How it works

One dashboard, every dish on time.

MealSync isn't just a timer — it's a way to coordinate a whole meal so the roast, the potatoes and the Yorkshires all land on the table at the same moment. Here's everything it does, step by step.

Get every dish ready at the same time.
01 / THE BASICS

Add a timer

Tap Add a timer, give it a name and set the hours, minutes and seconds. Each dish gets its own card.

  • Name it for the dish — “Roast beef”, “Potatoes”.
  • Start, pause and reset each card independently.
  • Add as many as you need — the whole meal lives on one screen.

02 / THE CLEVER BIT

Link timers so they start each other

This is what makes MealSync different. Set a timer to begin automatically when another one finishes — with an optional head start or delay.

  • When the beef finishes, the resting timer and the potatoes kick off on their own.
  • Add an offset — “start the Yorkshires 5 minutes after”.
  • Build a whole chain once, then just press go.

Rest & wait steps

A wait is just a timer with nothing cooking — but drop one between two steps and link it, and that idle stretch becomes part of the plan. Tap Add a wait to drop one in, or use + Add a wait after on any card and MealSync links it for you — the next step automatically waits for it.

  • Rest a joint before carving, or let batter relax — the carving timer waits for it.
  • Prove or proof dough, then knock back or bake right on cue.
  • Marinate, chill, cool, steep or brew — anything that's just “now wait”.
  • Because the wait is linked, the next thing starts itself the moment it ends.

04 / PLAN BACKWARDS

Pick a serving time — we do the maths

Type when you want to eat into Serve at and press Plan backwards. MealSync works out exactly when each step — including every rest and wait — has to start so everything's ready together.

  • Set it once: “Serve at 18:00”.
  • See the start time for every dish in the chain.
  • Hit Arm all timers and relax — each one starts itself.

05 / ALERTS

Sounds, and a count-up so you never miss one

Choose an alarm sound from the dropdown and Test it. Toggle Sound on off if you'd rather watch quietly.

  • When a timer ends it turns green and chimes.
  • It then counts up — “finished 6:32 ago” — so a missed alert is obvious. Perfect alongside a resting timer.

Cook with it in your pocket

MealSync works in any browser, but it's happiest on a phone in the kitchen.

  • Use your browser's Add to Home Screen to keep it one tap away, full-screen.
  • If it asks to send notifications, allow it — then alerts can reach you even when you're in another app.
  • Keep the tab open and the screen stays awake while a timer runs.

08 / NOT SURE WHERE TO START?

Load the example

On a fresh board, choose Load example to drop in a complete Sunday-roast chain — beef, a rest (wait), potatoes and Yorkshires, already linked to start each other.

  • See exactly how linking, waits and plan-backwards behave together.
  • Then rename, retime or rebuild it for your own meal.

A note on food safety

MealSync coordinates timing — it isn't a food-safety guide. Cooking times are a starting point, not a guarantee. Always cook food to a safe internal temperature and check with a thermometer, especially poultry and large joints.
